The last game of the 2012/13 season closed with Bohemians facing the League Champions on thier 3G pitch, and it turned out to be a great game, especially for the neutral. With Jubilee mixing up thier team selection, Bohemians had a several forced changes, which also saw Savage play upfront! The game started with both sides struggling to get used to the pitch, but Jubilee we clearly enjoying thier day and some of their football was good enough to be playing in the Premier Division. However, it was Bohemians who came closest first, when Savage shot from 30 yards whistled over the crossbar with the keeper easily beaten. It was a sign of things to come, as 5 minutes later Savage found himnself slighty right of centre, again 30 yards out, and this time his shot fired over the keeper to give Bohemians the lead! Jubilee suddenly realised that this game wasnt going to be easy, and they started to step up the tempo and determination. With Bohemians having 15 minutes of madness, with a lack of shape and decisiveness it saw Bohemians trail 4-1 at half time, a clear sign they were playing against a quality side.
The half time message was to keep the shape and enjoy the last game of the sesaon, and this showed as Bohemians relaxed and played some nice football! Bohemians got a 2nd, when the impressive Dixon (a Half time sub) found himself 6 yards out after a Cook cross, and Dixon calmy placed it past the keeper. However, Jubilee responded within 2 minutes, and bohemians found themselves 5-2 down, and again having to try and find another level. With both sides pushing forward trying to score, spaces were easy to find, and Dixon managed to rush his defender it giving him the ball in the 18 yard box. His sqaure ball was attacked by Cartwright, and he made it 5-3. Pateman had come on at right back and looked comfortable, making several key tackles. When Jubilee made it 6-3, it didnt stop the Bohos attacking, and the 4th goal came from an unlikely source, a 25 yard drive from Richardson! He latched onto a Savage knock down, and unlike his several attempts this season, kept it low and it found the bottom corner. Jubilee again quickly responded and made it 7-4.
A great game for the neutral, and an exciting game for the season to end on, the performance of Savage was a big plus, as too the performance of Dixon.
